This past weekend, the Henry Doorly zoo was packed in Omaha as thousands enjoyed the warm spring weather with friends and families. As reported on, NBC WOWT, the beautiful day quickly turned frightening for a mother whose 3-year-old son had squeezed through fencing into the African animal enclosure.
Manager at the Omaha StorageMart on Scott Circle, Boyd Adams was with his wife at the zoo when he noticed the toddler past the barricade and jumped into action. When asked for a quote about what inspired him to get involved, Boyd simply said he was “doing what a man should” by helping out.
Boyd jumped the fence (which he notes was very graceful!) and caught the toddler just feet before a large drop off into the enclosure. The local news caught wind of the story and Boyd was interviewed by the WOWT crew outside work this week. Thankfully everyone ended up safe this time and the zoo has taken steps to mend the gap in the fence. We’re proud to count Boyd as a member of our StorageMart family and like to think that his selfless actions and quick thinking are the kind of traits we look for when we hire!
