It’s Cool to Be Kind

5 Simple Ways to Be Cool and Kind

Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Day 2020 will be observed on Feb. 17, 2020, and a lot of people are coming up with some pretty interesting ways of participating. What if you haven’t done this kind of stuff before, though, and feel a little intimidated to participate in those ideas?

If visiting a retirement home or feeding the homeless is a bit out of your comfort zone this year, we’ve got five ridiculously easy ways you can show a little random loving kindness to the people around you. It will brighten up their day and yours as well.

1. Bring Coffee and a Box of Bagels to Work

We know this one sounds pretty basic, but that’s the point. You don’t have to pull off a Nobel Peace Prize kind of effort to make a difference in people’s lives. Try something simple.

2. Run an Errand for a Friend or Family Member in Need

Chances are pretty good you’ve got a friend, a family member, or a co-worker who could use a helping hand this week. Perhaps an elderly aunt still has dead leaves all over her yard from this past fall season? Rake them for her.

3. Call Your Mom

Seriously. Call your mom. She thinks about you all the time.

4. Let Someone Have Your Spot

Whether it’s a lady with several bags of groceries standing on a crowded bus or a dad with multiple kids trying to get through the line at the grocery store, smile and let them have your spot.

5. Leave Money on the Vending Machine for Someone Else

Do you have a few spare coins hiding in your couch cushions or maybe a $1 bill? Leave it on the vending machine at work for the next person who comes along.

Random Acts of Kindness Day comes around every February, and it’s a fun excuse to brighten up someone’s day. If your comfort zone keeps you from tackling bigger compassion challenges, try one of these ideas.
