Big Daddy’s BBQ at Roots n Blues

The Best BBQ is at Roots N Blues Fest

You can find the best of many things at Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival in Columbia, MO. While the musicians tend to take the spotlight at the festival, the food is second to none and a huge highlight during the event. Roots N Blues N BBQ festival has exploded in popularity over the last few years, and it certainly lives up to its name.

Big Daddy’s BBQ

A local favorite will be serving up all manner of barbecue at the festival this year. A Roots N Blues fest veteran, Big Daddy’s BBQ has been in Columbia since its inception as a food truck in 2012. Co-owner Fontella Henry said, “We come from a family of barbecuers – my uncle had a barbecue restaurant for 30 years in St. Louis.”

Barbecue sauce flows in their veins, and just two years after starting the food truck, Big Daddy’s BBQ got a brick and mortar location on Business Loop in Columbia. The street-side location offers great visibility on a busy road, and Big Daddy’s BBQ offers an extensive spread available for carry out. But their favorite event is Roots N Blues N BBQ, where they mingle with customers, listen to great music, and share their barbecue with hundreds of festival-goers. Their food is made from scratch, and the quality shines through. In an interview with The Missourian, co-owner Lloyd Henry JR said, “We’re just a local family barbecue business. Everything is really homemade. Everything is from the heart. The only thing bought is the ingredients. We serve whoever it is that comes through and likes good down-home barbecue.”
