Summer may be behind us, but outdoor living doesn’t have to be—and it may be considerably easier and less expensive than you’d think.
In the last few years, consumer demand for outdoor living options has surged. That demand has been met with a wide-variety of products that can take the chill out of an October night, allowing you to enjoy the great outdoors even longer.
Outdoor Fireplace Ideas
First, you have to decide if you want a wood-burning or a gas fireplace. If you choose the latter, the next decision is whether you want to run a natural gas line (obviously, the more expensive option) or use propane tanks to fuel your fire.
Hiring someone to build your custom fireplace is the most expensive option—and will likely cost at least a few thousand dollars. Building your own outdoor fireplace will be considerably cheaper, but will require a fair bit of know-how, as well as a decent amount of time.
Luckily, there is a third option.
Outdoor Fireplace Kits
An outdoor fireplace kit allows you to cozy up your outdoor space, without a huge investment of time or money.
This wood-burning fireplace from Home Depot, for example, takes only eight screws to construct and costs less than $2,000. You’ll also find plenty of options on Amazon, as well as through other Internet retailers.
In general, outdoor fireplace kits range from about $500 to $2,500. They’re usually fairly easy to construct and are available in either gas or wood-burning models.
