StorageMart Adds Third Self Storage Chicago Location

True Chicagoans know Madison Street serves as the north-south dividing line for Chicago’s street numbering system and it just so happens to be the site of StorageMart’s newest self storage Chicago location, formerly Midway Storage. In 1908, Chicago’s streets were ordered as a large grid system with a uniform street numbering system, and State and Madison Streets became the city’s primary north-south and east-west axes.

Expanding in a New Neighborhood

“We’re bringing ‘easy, clean, service’ to the West Side in the Austin neighborhood about a mile away from the historic Garfield Conservatory,” said StorageMart President Cris Burnam. It becomes the company’s third Chicago location, along with sites on Halstead Ave. and Cottage Grove Ave., and the company’s 10th store in Illinois.

It’s not a cookie-cutter,” said Tim Burnam, StorageMart’s Vice President of Development and Construction. “It’s a beautiful building and we have plans to blend our interior renovations to complement this historic building, which was built in 1926,” Burnam said. Behind the building and accessible through the alley is a heated loading dock which will keep customers comfortable during winter while the tall barrel roof will provide protection from the sun and rain. At more than 5,300 square feet, the dock has plenty of room to pull cars (up to 15 in fact) and box trucks right up to the building’s access.

Customers will enjoy the same StorageMart staple of services, from an assortment of high-quality moving supplies to PIN pad access and high-resolution video cameras which monitor the six-story building 24 hours a day. Customers can rent one or more of 462 storage units – that’s 49,600 square feet of storage! It’s easy to unload your belongings using our carts or dollies and move them to a first-floor unit or to another floor easily using the elevator.
